Using Garages

How players collect and store vehicles, and how lost vehicles are recovered.

This page explains how players use a garage, so you know what to expect and what to tell your community.

Players open the terminal by walking up to it and using ox_target (Use garage terminal) or the key prompt (E by default). The terminal shows the vehicles stored in this garage and the owned vehicles that are parked nearby.

Collect a Vehicle

Pick a Vehicle

Open the terminal and select a car under Your Vehicles. Fuel, engine and body condition are shown for each one. At an impound, the release fee is shown and paid here.

Wait for the Lift

The shutters open and the platform brings the car up from below. The keys are handed over automatically when your key script is supported (see Frameworks).

Drive Out

Get in and drive the car off the lift. Changed your mind? Choose Return your vehicle on the terminal and it goes back down.

A collected car that is not driven off within Movement.PickupTimeout (3 minutes by default) goes back into storage by itself.

Store a Vehicle

Park Nearby

Park your car near the garage and step out. Only owned cars within StoreNearby.Lift (18 m by default) of the lift are listed.

Choose Store Vehicle

Open the terminal and select the car under Store vehicle. The empty lift rises and the shutters open.

Drive onto the Lift

Drive fully onto the raised lift, stop, and step outside. Storage starts automatically and the car is saved with its mods, fuel and damage.

Players who forget how it works can type /evpark for a short in-game reminder.

Which Vehicles Fit

  • Cars and motorbikes can be stored.
  • Bicycles, boats, helicopters, planes and trains can't.
  • The vehicle must fit inside the lift cabin: at most 2.85 m wide, 6.25 m long and 2.80 m high. Larger vehicles are refused with This vehicle does not fit inside the lift.

Lost Vehicles

A car can end up marked as out in the database while it no longer exists in the world, for example after a despawn, a crash or a server restart. With LostVehicles.Enabled, these cars are brought back automatically when the owner opens a terminal.

LostVehicles.GarageWhere the car goes
'impound'To your impound garage. The player is told A vehicle of yours was recovered and taken to the impound. With no impound garage, it behaves like 'last'.
'last'Back to the garage it was taken from, the next time the owner opens that garage's terminal.

A car is left alone when it still exists in the world, when a lift cycle is using it, or when another script has impounded it (state 2).

Want to know why a certain car was not recovered? Turn on Debug and open the terminal. The server console prints one reason for every car it skipped.

Good to Know

  • Garages only work in the default routing bucket (bucket 0). Players in an instance can't use a terminal.
  • One lift runs one cycle at a time. Other players see Someone else is using the lift until it is done.
  • If a player leaves or the server restarts in the middle of a cycle, the script remembers it and finishes it safely once a player is near the lift again, so the car ends up back in storage.
  • Everyone nearby sees and hears the lift move, the shutters open and the car come up.
