Getting Started
Install Evolent Studio, a free and open source photo studio for FiveM.
Studio pages
Evolent Studio takes cut-out photos of your vehicles in game. Admins photograph each model once, and other resources show that photo in the paint of the player's own car.
What it's for
Every vehicle on your server needs a picture somewhere, in a garage, a dealership or on your website. Vanilla image packs leave out addon cars, show every car in one colour and come in mixed styles. Making the pictures by hand takes a screenshot and an edit per model, and you redo it each time you add cars.
The studio photographs every model in one queue run, all with the same camera, light and frame. Each photo keeps three paint layers, so other resources can show it in any colour.
- The player's own car. A garage, impound, phone app, insurance menu or MDT lookup shows the car in the owner's paint. GetPaint reads the paint from the saved vehicle and GetPhoto paints the photo to match.
- Catalogues. Dealerships, rentals, job vehicles and boosting contracts get one photo per model, including addon cars that have no picture anywhere else.
- Outside the game. With uploads on, every photo gets a link for your website, your store or a Discord channel.
- Branded pictures. A saved style adds your background, texts and logo, and a real place on the map can replace the studio. The result works as an update post or an advert.
When you add cars, photograph the missing ones, and every resource that uses the exports shows the new photos. Players never send pictures themselves, so nobody can fake one.
Installation
Install dependencies
Make sure the following required resources are installed:
A framework is optional. With QBOX, QB, ESX or OX running, the vehicle list fills itself from the framework and shows how many players own each model. Without one, add your vehicles by hand with Add addon in the menu.
Download
Download the latest evolent_studio release and place it inside your resources folder. The release includes the built menu.
A clone of the repository does not include the menu. Build it yourself with Bun:
git clone https://github.com/evolent-labs/evolent_studio.git
cd evolent_studio/web
bun install
bun run buildSaved styles, places, addons and upload settings are stored against the resource name. A renamed folder starts without them.
Database
There are no SQL files to run. The script creates the evolent_studio_photos table on the first start.
Configure
Open config.lua and adjust it to your server. The defaults work for most servers, and the studio look is set in game. See Configuration for every option.
Add the ACE permission
Give your staff access to the studio:
add_ace group.admin evolent.studio allowStart the script
Add evolent_studio to your resource list. Make sure it starts after its dependencies.
ensure ox_lib
ensure oxmysql
ensure screencapture
ensure evolent_studioTake your first photo
Join the server, type /evstudio and follow Taking Photos.
Updating
Photos live in the database, so replacing the resource keeps them. When a new version adds or removes files, the server has to re-read the manifest. Run both commands in your server console:
refresh
ensure evolent_studio
